1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how Padel Arena ("we", "us", "our"), established in the Netherlands, collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our progressive web app, Padel Arena (the "Platform"), which connects independent padel coaches with players.

Padel Arena is the data controller responsible for your personal data for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Dutch data protection law.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data directly from you when you create and use your account:

  • Email address
  • Password (stored in encrypted/hashed form — we never store or have access to your plain-text password)
  • First name and last name
  • Avatar / profile image
  • Google ID (if you choose to sign in or register using Google Sign-In)
  • Preferred language

We do not collect or store your payment card or bank details. All payments are processed directly by our payment provider, Stripe, in accordance with Stripe's own privacy policy — see Section 5.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the personal data described above to:

  • Create and manage your account;
  • Authenticate you when you log in, including via Google Sign-In;
  • Display your profile (name, avatar) to other Users so Coaches and Players can connect;
  • Provide the app interface in your preferred language;
  • Communicate with you about your account, bookings, or support requests;
  • Maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Platform;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — processing necessary to provide you with the Platform and its features (e.g. account creation, profile display, enabling bookings);
  • Consent — where you choose to sign in with Google, or otherwise provide optional information;
  • Legitimate interests — for example, to keep the Platform secure, prevent fraud, and improve our services, provided this does not override your fundamental rights;
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data by law.

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients, where necessary to operate the Platform:

  • Stripe (payment processing) — Stripe processes payments directly between Players and Coaches. We do not receive or store your card/bank details; Stripe acts as an independent data controller for the payment data it processes. We encourage you to review Stripe's own privacy policy.
  • Google (authentication) — if you use Google Sign-In, Google processes the authentication on our behalf and shares your Google ID and associated profile information with us, as permitted by your Google account settings.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — who store and process data on our behalf, under appropriate data processing agreements.
  • Other Users — your name, avatar, preferred language (where relevant to profile display), and reviews you post are visible to other Users of the Platform as part of the normal functioning of the marketplace.
  • Authorities — where required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request.

6. Children's Data

There is no minimum age requirement to create a general account on the Platform. However, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children in a manner that would require parental or guardian consent under applicable law without obtaining that consent.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, please contact us at the details in Section 11 so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete that information.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it for longer (for example, financial or tax records).

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration, including password encryption and secure data transmission. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten");
  • Restrict or object to certain processing of your data;
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (e.g. Google Sign-In), without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal;
  • Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or your local supervisory authority.

10. International Data Transfers

Where any of our service providers (such as hosting or infrastructure partners) process data outside the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or reliance on an adequacy decision.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our data practices or for legal reasons. Where changes are material, we will notify you through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision.
